Here is what you can do to help create a better future.

  1. Support policies for 100% renewable energy

  2. Pressure big business and government to act environmentally responsibly.

  3. Buy your electricity from clean sources (regional wind, solar, etc)

  4. Walk, bike and use public transportation when you can.

  5. Hang your washed clothes to dry rather than using a dryer.

    2. Save even more money!

  6. If you need to drive a car, go with an electric vehicle. There are new and used models at many price points, these days. If you’re driving 300 miles on a daily basis, go with a hybrid. Though large vehicles are fashionable, they’re an enormous waste and ridiculous if you’re not hauling loads of people or materials on a daily basis. You can always rent a truck when you need it, and pocket the left over $40K when you buy a second hand Prius.

  10. When it is time to replace an appliance, make sure it has the Energy Star label. This will save energy and money.

  11. Turn down your water heater from 140º F to 120º and wrap it in an insulating jacket.

  12. Take advantage of home weatherization programs that we all fund through our utility bills.

  13. Don’t over-heat or over-cool your rooms. Use a sweater in the winter time. You’ll be cool in all the right ways.

  14. NASA earth and climate quizzes. How much do you know about our home?
